How To Achieve Your New Years Resolutions & Goals
At the beginning of each year, many people set New Years Resolutions or Goals to accomplish. Sadly, they’re often abandoned soon after they’re established? As a result, these days, many experts advise that you shouldn’t even bother setting them in the first place.
We fail at achieving our resolutions and goals because we’re not tracking our progress.
This year, I’ve set personal, business & investment goals.
So, I’ve broken my goals in to the following categories:
- Sales & Prospecting
- Personal Brand
- Home Improvements
And, I created a simple spreadsheet to track my progress in each category, which I update daily.
How do I remember to update my Goal Tracking Spreadsheet daily? I sent an email to FollowupThen (another good resource is Laytr) and I get an auto-reminder each day to update the spreadsheet. I also plugged one of my favorite quotes into the email for a small amount of continued inspiration — “If you can measure it, you can manage it!”
Leave a comment below on this blog and I’ll share my Goal Tracking Spreadsheet with you — no cost.
Additionally, we fail at achieving our goals we don’t block off time to work on our goals. To overcome this obstacle, I’ve blocked off time in my calendar — daily, weekly and monthly, to work on my goals (like writing blog posts each week). Use Google Calendars, plug in the date & time that best works for you, with auto-reminders, and invite a friend to keep you honest & focused about working on your goals.
I can’t wait to see what I’ve achieved by December 31st, 2017 😉
